"Fashion is empowering," John Williams says. "It permits me to embrace who I'm, and I consider it has the power to do that for others." It was with that spirit that the accounting scholar and Ghanaian immigrant based the truthful-commerce attire firm Gyetum—which suggests "to embrace" within the Ghanaian language Akan—to encourage black and African individuals to simply accept "who we actually are," says Williams, pictured along with his girlfriend Lesan Mattis. "It looks like lately we're all the time trying to be accepted by others, altering the best way we costume, converse, making an attempt to slot in, and assimilating to different cultures that are not our personal. However why would we want others to embrace us if we already embrace ourselves?"
