Collaborations in the luxurious business being a norm, Swiss Maison d’Horlogerie Baume & Mercier determined to reimagine its Classima assortment with an entire new design sensibility. The posh watchmaker handpicked three proficient regional designers—Hussein Bazaza, Rula Galayini and Zayan Ghandour—for this collaboration as a part of the 10th edition of Fashion Forward Dubai (FFWD).
Baume & Mercier unveiled the designs that celebrated style and girls, whereas staying true to its DNA and mirroring the distinct aesthetics of Bazaza, Galayini and Ghandour.
Working alongside the model’s design director, Alexandre Peraldi, the designers have been in a cheerful territory: they got here up with three designs every for the straps—and one per designer made the ultimate lower.
Nod to Structure
Designing a watchstrap was a primary for clothier Hussein Bazaza. “It got here with its challenges undoubtedly, between brainstorming for a wearable piece but with a daring design, to lastly executing it and watching it come to life piece-by-piece,” he mentioned. When requested to design a strap for Classima, Rula Galayini deftly translated her accent model’s edginess and modern seems with the watch’s timelessness. For the unique design piece, she selected the theme Dynamism of Time. “I wished to problem the everyday cyclical portrayal of time.
‘The Coil’ explores the notion of parallel time strains that cross at particular moments of time with the fluidity of time being mirrored by means of the fluidity of the malleable steel chosen for the strap,” added Galayini.
Revisiting a Basic
Founding father of Zayan The Label, Zayan Ghandour has all the time been a fan of Baume & Mercier. Revisiting a basic Baume & Mercier piece and giving it a ‘Zayan The Label’ twist was no straightforward process; thrilling nonetheless. Ghandour’s Autumn/Winter assortment—impressed by the legendary Marchesa Luisa Casati (Italian heiress and artwork patron)—grew to become the springboard for her refreshing tackle the design.
She turned to fairly black organza ruffles and accented it with dainty classic floral embroidery. The consequence: Prepared-to-Put on particulars on a superb frilly cuff-strap that amps up the style quotient.
